Growing up as a child, my parents owned a moving company, so I was exposed at an early age to trucks, trucking, and the smell of diesel. I explored college and other careers, but it wasn't too long that I decided to give trucking another try. I guess I got caught up with the same hype and enticement as so many new drivers do today. The thoughts of "the open road", " seeing new places", "no boss hanging around", "drive all the miles you can and earn all the money you want." Truck driving seemed to have all I was looking for.

I got caught up in it all, believing every company that promised the moon and stars. With every new trucking company, I didn't give up hope. After all, they seemed so honest and trustworthy... especially the recruiters. Well, after a few years of listening to all the empty promises, being left on the road for weeks at a time and never having enough money, I eventually was able to find a great company. Only after years of wasted time and lost wages, I knew what to look for. I realized that there are good trucking companies out there, but if nobody ever tells you from an unbiased point of view, how will you ever know?

There are just too many scams within the OTR trucking industry that CDL students and new drivers must know. There are the Truck Driving School scams , the Owner Operator Lease Purchase scams, the abuse of the DAC Report, trucking companies who use new drivers as a means of cheap labor and continue the turn-over of drivers for this very purpose, and I could go on.
